Description
mhs homes is a high-performing, community focused housing provider delivering safe, secure and affordable homes as a stepping stone to a better future. We believe everyone needs a decent home. The mhs homes group has been created to provide affordable homes to the people who need them most and we are passionate about investing in our communities
mhs homes was set up in 1990 and became a registered charity in 2017. We own and manage over 10,000 homes in north Kent. This makes us the largest independent social landlord in the UK. The group includes Heart of Medway Housing Association which manages 1,200 homes and is registered with the Social Housing Regulator and is key to providing supported living for young people through our Foyers.
Our strategic plan 2024-27 reflects our belief that ‘everyone should have a decent home’ and drives our ultimate ambition: to help end the housing crisis in north Kent by providing safe and sustainable homes, crucially keeping the customer voice at the heart of everything that we do.
As part of our board succession in 2025 we are looking to a new board member to join our Heart of Medway Board. Our new member will be an integral part of our boardroom team, embodying a people and customer-focused leadership approach to enable Heart of Medway and mhs to deliver a people and customer first culture, excellent services and organisational growth.
This board member will bring significant experience of working in the social housing sector having operated in an asset management or property related role. In order to best support the needs of our customers and enable us to deliver excellent outcomes, our new board member will need to come with an in-depth understanding of the social housing sector, the NHF Code of Governance and regulatory standards.
Across the mhs group, we are committed to achieve the ultimate ambition of our strategic plan - to help end the housing crisis in north Kent. These roles are an opportunity to join a unique, and ambitious organisation, with a highly committed board and colleague group. We are committed to retaining a diverse board, reflective of the communities we serve, comprised of people who bring a broad mix of different skills and perspectives. We are keen to attract applicants with backgrounds from the broadest possible range.
