Description
mhs homes is a high-performing, community-focused housing provider, committed to delivering safe, secure and affordable homes as a stepping stone to a better future. We believe everyone deserves a decent home, and our ambition is to help end the housing crisis in North Kent by keeping the customer voice at the heart of everything we do.
The mhs homes group manages 10,000 homes in the Medway, Maidstone, Gravesham, Dartford, and Tonbridge and Malling areas of Kent. This makes us the largest independent social landlord in the UK. The group includes Heart of Medway Housing Association (HoM) which manages over 1,200 homes and is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing. This year, we underwent our first inspection and received the highest gradings of G1, V1 and C1. Heart of Medway’s services are delivered by mhs homes, and the board plays a critical role in making sure Heart of Medway provides excellent customer service and community value.
Through board succession, we are now looking to appoint a new Group Board Member who will also sit on our Heart of Medway subsidiary Board. This is a key role on both boards ensuring the mhs homes group delivers the best services and outcomes for our customers and communities. For this role, we are seeking an experienced non-executive director with professional asset and development knowledge. The ability to engage and constructively challenge with positive outcomes is also vital. Experience in complaints handling and safeguarding would be highly valued, as these areas are key to ensuring trust and accountability. Whilst you don’t need to live locally, a good understanding of the regional context and communities we serve is preferred.
We are committed to retaining a diverse board, reflective of the communities we serve, comprised of people who bring a broad mix of different skills and perspectives. We are keen to attract applicants from the broadest possible range of backgrounds.
